Most people don't need more meditation theory β they need to actually sit, daily, with good guidance. In 7 days you'll build the core skills of mindfulness with Tara Brach: sensing the body, anchoring in the breath, letting go of tension, seeing your mind clearly, and listening to your heart. Each day: one guided meditation and one small, concrete mission. By day 7, you'll have a practice you can keep β not just a week you finished.

Day by day, in detail
Day 1π¬ βοΈ Do the body scan and land in the present +1β
βοΈ Lock in your sit: when, where, and what you felt
βοΈ Right after the body scan, while it's fresh: where in your body did you actually feel something β tingling, warmth, tightness, numbness? Name one specific spot. Then make this week real: decide the exact time and place you'll sit each day (same time, same spot works best), and write it down like an appointment.
Day 2π¬ π Practice the breath as your anchor +1β
π¬ Practice the breath as your anchor
π Open your sit journal
π This journal is your companion for the week. After each sit β starting with today's breath meditation β add a quick entry. Two minutes, no perfect prose. Meditators who track their sits keep sitting; the journal is what turns seven meditations into a practice.
Day 3β Set up your practice corner and take anchor breathsβ
β Set up your practice corner and take anchor breaths
- I chose one spot in my home that is now my sitting place, with cushion or chair ready
- I put my phone on do-not-disturb for my sit time, with a daily reminder set
- I paused three times today (morning, midday, evening) for three conscious breaths at my anchor
- I logged today in my sit journal, even if I only did the breath pauses
Day 4π¬ π Practice the art of letting go +1β
π¬ Practice the art of letting go
π Catch one clench and soften it
π At least once today, off the cushion, I caught myself gripping β jaw, shoulders, rushing, replaying β paused, and deliberately softened and released it
Day 5π¬ βοΈ Sit vipassana and watch your mind at work +1β
π¬ Sit vipassana and watch your mind at work
βοΈ Map what your mind kept serving you
βοΈ In vipassana you watched experience come and go instead of chasing it. Look back at today's sit and your journal entries so far: what shows up most in your mind β planning, judging, remembering, worrying? Give your most frequent visitor a simple label. Next time it appears, mid-sit or mid-day, quietly name it and return to your anchor.
Day 6π¬ β Listen to your heart in today's sit +1β
π¬ Listen to your heart in today's sit
β Design your practice beyond this week
- I reread my sit journal and marked the meditation that helped me most
- I picked my go-to anchor: body scan, breath, or heart
- I decided my ongoing rhythm: how many minutes, how many days a week
- I scheduled my next 7 sits in my calendar, starting tomorrow
Day 7π― Final challenge: your first fully self-guided dayβ
π― Final challenge: your first fully self-guided day
π― Today, run the whole practice yourself: one sit at your chosen time using your go-to anchor, plus three anchor-breath pauses and one caught-and-softened clench during the day.
This is the week working without training wheels. Sit at the time and place you committed to, guide yourself with the anchor that served you best, and bring the practice off the cushion: three pause-points, one moment of letting go in real life. Then close your sit journal with a final entry comparing how present you feel now versus day 1 β and share it as your proof. A practice you can run on your own is the whole point of these 7 days. Keep sitting.
