Your breath is the fastest lever you have on your nervous system, and most of us never train it. Over 7 days you'll learn the techniques Mike Maher teaches on TAKE A DEEP BREATH — box breathing, a 5-minute daily reset, and heart coherence breathing — and turn them into a toolkit you actually reach for when stress hits. Each day: one short guided practice and one small, measurable mission. By day 7, you'll have a go-to reset for stressful moments and a wind-down routine for deeper sleep.

Day by day, in detail
Day 1🎬 ✍️ Do your first guided practice and feel the shift +1⌄
✍️ Score the shift: your before-and-after numbers
✍️ Right now, while it's fresh: how tense were you before the practice, from 1 (totally calm) to 10 (wired)? And after? Write both numbers, then describe where in your body you noticed the change — shoulders, jaw, chest, breathing speed. This is your day-1 baseline; you'll compare against it on day 7.
Day 2🎬 📓 Learn box breathing, your go-to stress reset +1⌄
🎬 Learn box breathing, your go-to stress reset
📓 Open your breath log
📓 This log is your main tool for the week. After every practice — guided or on your own — come back and add an entry. It takes 60 seconds, and it's how you'll prove to yourself this is working: what gets measured gets calmer.
Day 3✅ 🔁 Set up your practice so it actually happens +1⌄
✅ Set up your practice so it actually happens
- I picked my anchor time: a fixed moment I'll practice every day (e.g. after coffee, before lunch)
- I picked my spot: a place where I can sit undisturbed for 5-10 minutes
- I wrote my emergency rule: "When I feel stress spike, I do 4 rounds of box breathing before reacting"
- I set a daily reminder on my phone for my anchor time
🔁 Run box breathing solo — no video, just you
🔁 I did at least 4 rounds of box breathing (inhale 4 · hold 4 · exhale 4 · hold 4) on my own, without the video, and logged my before/after scores
Day 4🎬 Make 5 minutes of breathing your daily anchor⌄
🎬 Make 5 minutes of breathing your daily anchor
Day 5🎬 🔁 Try heart coherence breathing for 10 minutes +1⌄
🎬 Try heart coherence breathing for 10 minutes
🔁 Log today's session and compare techniques
🔁 I did the full 10-minute heart coherence practice at my anchor time, logged my before/after scores, and noted how it felt compared to box breathing
Day 6✍️ Read your log and pick your go-to technique⌄
✍️ Read your log and pick your go-to technique
✍️ Scroll back through your breath log. Which practice dropped your calm score the most: box breathing, the 5-minute session, or heart coherence? When during the day did breathing help you most? Now write your personal protocol: your daily practice, and your emergency reset for stress spikes. This is what you keep after the challenge ends.
Day 7🎬 🎯 Wind down tonight with box breathing for sleep +1⌄
🎬 Wind down tonight with box breathing for sleep
🎯 Final challenge: a full day on breath
🎯 Run your complete protocol for one full day: morning practice at your anchor time, your emergency reset at every stress spike, and box breathing in bed tonight.
This is the week coming together. Practice at your anchor time, catch at least one stressful moment today and answer it with your reset before reacting, then close the day with the sleep session — lights off, phone away. Before you drift off, leave your proof: your day-1 tension score vs. today's, how many times you used your reset, and the one technique you're keeping for life. Your nervous system learned something this week. Keep breathing. 💨
